AkzoNobel completes capacity expansion at Vietnam multi-site
Responding to customer demand, the company has now added the pioneering functionality to its Interpon D range in both standard durability, Interpon D1036, and superdurable Interpon D2525.
To prove its toughness, the product was subjected to rigorous testing using industry-standard Martindale test equipment. The high gloss retention scores are proof of the coating’s improved scratch resistance.
“We’ve listened to our customers, learned from them and delivered exactly what they want,” explains Daniela Vlad, Managing Director of AkzoNobel’s Powder Coatings business. “Our product innovation is all about going beyond expectations, and we believe we can now provide the best possible scratch resistance solution. This way, the coated surfaces can be handled, assembled, or transported with better scratch-resistant protection.”
Adds Jean-Paul Moonen, the business’ Segment Manager for Architectural Coatings: “Interpon D is already recognized for its durability, now we can add a scratch resistance solution to the mix. Our architectural customers – particularly fabricators of aluminum windows and doors – told us they wanted a scratch-resistant powder coating, especially for dark colors, and that’s exactly what we’ve delivered.”
Products coated with Interpon D X-Pro are also less susceptible to abrasions during handling and transportation, minimizing the need for touch up on site.
Customers have already come to trust and rely on the company’s Interpon D range, which has been verified by an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD). AkzoNobel was the first global powder coatings supplier to obtain the environmental declaration back in 2015. A recently renewed EPD for the Interpon D range of architectural powder coatings lasts until 2023.
Interpon D X-Pro is initially available from stock throughout Europe, with plans to launch in other regions in due course.
